More Info

The IL SESTANTE family vineyard, "I Pianeti" which is perfectly situated in the most prestigious hills of the region, produces what may be the best grapes for the production of "Valpolicella Classico Superiore". IL SESTANTE "Ripasso" is the unique result of refermenting a Valpolicella Classico Superiore on the warm grape skins from which Tommasi Amarone has been fermented. This process, used only in rare vintage years, imparts the richness of character and personality of a great wine to an already superior wine.

Wine Spectator, Web Only 2020

2017 -

"Delicate dried thyme and orange peel notes accent the baked cherry and sandalwood flavors in this balanced, medium-bodied red. Fine-grained tannins emerge on the fresh finish. Drink now through 2023. 50,000 cases made, 1,500 cases imported"

Wine Align, David Lawrason, Jul/2016

2014 -

"This is a quite full bodied, rounded and texturally appealing wine but the aromas and flavours are rather dull and earthy, with a wet ashtray note, overripe fruit and some attempt at vanilla chocolaty character to put a better face on things. Quite tannic and sour-edged as well. Good length. Tasted July 2016"
