Chateau Fonplegade is ideally situated on the south hillside of Saint-Emilion. At Chateau Fonplegade, they believe there are no shortcuts or quick fixes to great viticulture, and that excellence is achieved through a virtuous and intimate relationship with the vineyard. The winery has transitioned to organic farming, which was certified "Agriculture Biologique" by ECOCERT in early 2013. Chateau Fonplegade is the ultimate expression of our terroir. It is a wine of impeccable balance, bringing together the finest attributes of the vineyard to create a complex and complete expression of Saint-Emilion winemaking. Chateau Fonplegade is aged for 18 to 24 months in 80% new French oak and 20% one-year-old cooperage.
2012 -
"The Adams family, Americans, have done a magnificent job with this famous property on the south side of St.-Emilion. Now farmed organically, this wine exhibits an inky purple colour, a gorgeous nose of blackberry and cassis fruit, sweet cherries, licorice and spice. It is full-bodied, ripe, opulent, pure and a great success in this vintage. The wine should drink well for 15 or more years."
2012 -
"Owned by American Stephen Adams, Chateau Fonplegade showcases a rich and modern style of wine with smooth tannins and a velvet texture. Intensely concentrated on the finish."
