Robert Parker's The Wine Advocate, Mar/2017

2014 -

"The 2014 Fonroque showed well from barrel. Now in bottle, Alain Moueix's Saint Emilion has a slightly ostentatious bouquet with intense, dark cherry, crushed violet and boysenberry jam notes that do not quite deliver the sophistication that I was initially anticipating. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannin and here the quality that I was seeking finally begins to show through, demonstrating fine delineation and sense of tension, especially on the finish. I will give this the benefit of doubt and predict that the aromatics will just gain some composure with bottle age. But I would afford it two or three years in bottle."

"92-94. Barrel Sample. This is a finely structured wine, with a great line in pure fruitiness. It has dense tannins that are balanced by fresh acidity. The texture is thick and concentrated, suggesting the wine will age well."

Robert Parker's The Wine Advocate, Apr/2015

"The Chateau Fonroque 2014 blossoms from the glass with ebullient red berry fruit mixed with rose petal and violets aromas. This palate is crisp and focused with a keen line of acidity that neatly counterbalanced the silky textured, lightly spiced fruit. This is already showing fine cohesion and poise-an excellent wine courtesy of Alain Moueix and one of my picks from the Right Bank this year."
