Flavour

Hints of floral and citrus notes, as well as delicate honeyed tones, and an elegant aftertaste of vanilla and walnuts. The wine is broad in the mouth, with fresh tangy notes on the end palate. It has a long, intriguing, mouth-filling finish, with crisp acidity and well-balanced structure.

Food Pairing

A top-quality wine that enhances the typical cuisine of Lake Garda, combining perfectly with freshwater fish, pasta dishes and moderately mature cheeses, but also with meat-based main courses.

A substantial white, produced entirely from Turbiana grapes, which matures partly in wood giving it greater structure and complexity. After manual harvesting and the selection of the finest clusters, a delicate, soft pressing of the whole bunches takes place. Our vinification protocol is very strict: fermentation of 25% of the must in 500-hectoliter French oak barrels and 75% in stainless steel; both wines mature for 18 months, followed by blending of the two, bottling, and 6 months’ bottle-aging.

It finishes really vibrant, fresh, saline and long. A great option with smoked fish."

One of its first investments was in Lugana, where it owns 45ha over the plain at Sirmione and the low hills further inland. Grapes from both are sourced for this refined Riserva, which has a grapefruit and pineapple nose, a hint of milky almonds and a long, fluid palate with a flinty finish."

"I'm already a fan of the non-Riserva bottling of Le Fornaci but this new Riserva turns everything up a notch or two. Fermented in stainless steel tanks, this selection of top quality Turbiana is then partially barrel aged for 24 months (25% spends time in French oak barrels; the remainder in stainless steel). It's an exotic wine full of peach, banana, mango, pineapple and straw, with just a hint of wood tannin and some pithy grapefruit in the mouth providing balance and structure for the sumptuous, fleshy fruits. The finish is loaded with toasted pineapple, cream and sweet spices - a decadent drop that deserves a sunny day to be enjoyed in all its glory. Pair with smoked fish or chicken and mango skewers."

This is a bright, almost popping white wine that reveals a fragrant side of the sometimes-neutral Trebbiano di Lugana grape (also called Turbiana). This mid-weight, slightly creamy white wine is a terrific addition to the Tommasi family portfolio."

Brisk acids maintain amazing freshness and precision throughout, as the 2018 tapers off both long yet incredibly fresh, with a note of chlorophyll that is hard to describe, yet completely satisfying.
