Ferraton was founded in 1946 in the Rhone Valley, in the town of Tain, Ermitage. As a grower-négociant, they are a highly respected producer in France’s Rhône Valley. Twenty percent of their production is estate wines. All are biodynamic and, since 2015, Demeter-certified, with fruit coming from the domaine’s 37 acres of prime vineyards in the northern Rhône’s Hermitage, Crozes-Hermitage and St. Joseph appellations.
Their négociant range, sourced entirely from sustainably farmed fruit, includes bottlings from the Northern Rhône’s Côte Rôtie, Condrieu, St.-Joseph and Cornas appellations, plus Châteauneuf-du-Pape, Côtes du Rhône-Villages Plan de Dieu, and Côtes du Rhône in the Southern Rhône. Today, Ferraton is run by Michel Chapoutier.

The House Ferraton Père & Fils carries a long history. A story that tells the vineyard of L'Hermitage: the roots of the House. A story that speaks of the Rhone Valley, the birthplace of Syrah, Marsanne and Roussanne grape varieties. The Ferraton Père & Fils story is also the story of a choice and a requirement: biodynamics. The Parcel Selections of the estate are all from grapes grown according to this principle. From Côte-Rôtie to Châteauneuf-du-Pape, the Maison vinifies and raises grapes and wines from the northern and southern Côtes du Rhône.
