Maison Louis Jadot’s story can’t be reduced to a simple list of dates. It is, above all, a summary of moments, meetings and an overall philosophy, all based on one simple vision: to maintain the grandeur of Burgundy’s great terroirs for all time.
It all began with a parcel of vines. And we all know just how important these individual bits of land are in Burgundy. It was with the purchase of the Beaune Premier Cru Clos des Ursules that the story of Maison Louis Jadot began in 1826. For nearly 200 years they have focused their energies on promoting Burgundy and its viticultural heritage. Ever since the birth of Maison Louis Jadot, they have managed to reunite hundreds of parcels of vines, handing them down from one generation to another in order to guarantee the quality of the wines from this unique terroir.

The continental climate of Chablis (very cold in winter and hot in the summer with frosts in spring) and the marly limestone soils combine to mould the unique character of the wines. Chablis lies at the very northern extreme of Burgundy in the Yonne department but it is one of the high points of white wine in France. No other French region has more "weather" than Chablis, with hard winters, spring frosts and the odd autumn deluge.

"What you would expect from an important and influential producer such as Jadot. Classic Chablis style with concentration on the palate allied to crisp citrus acidity and a touch of minerality to finish. A very nicely put together wine which has lots to commend it."

"The palate is fresh and vibrant with a fine line of acidity and notes of clementine and peach skin, gaining more clarity towards the nuanced finish. Excellent. Tasted blind at the BIVB tasting in Chablis." - Neal Martin

"The light gold colour can surprise but worry not, it is a classic version of Chablis from Jadot. This has all the hallmarks of Chablis on the palate. Tight, precise, fresh, and packed full of acidity, it zips along your tongue, cleansing and refreshing every bite of food. Then, add an exotic but subtle streak of orange that feeds through a mineral-laden finish. Oysters, mussels, clams all fit the bill of fare here."

"The 2020 Chablis Village has a keen, quite fresh, slightly flinty bouquet that opens nicely in the glass. The palate is vibrant on the entry with a fine threat of acidity, lemon sherbet and lemon thyme mixed with a dab of stem ginger on the finish. Fine, but early drinking. Tasted blind at the BIVB tasting in Chablis."

"A zesty, crisp and bright example of Chablis. The acidity is a little strident at the moment. Not as fleshy as many other examples, this is an old-school Chablis with acidity and flintiness to the fore. Will develop a bit more complexity with further bottle age."
2018 -
"This is bright and crisp, with notes of honey and orange oil to lift and warm its stony acidity. It’s a clean and savory limestone essence of chardonnay, to target at the sweet meat of crab."

"The 2018 Chablis (Maison Louis Jadot) unfurls in the glass with notes of lemon oil, crisp yellow apple and wet stones. On the palate, it's medium to full-bodied, with a delicate core of fruit, lively acids and a long, saline finish that's quintessentially Chablisen. One of Jadot's largest cuvees, this is very faithful to the appellation."

"Ripe, juicy apple compote nose. A broad attack, full of fruit and a good underlying acidity. Concentrated for a village wine, with a zesty white-pepper finish. Quite long."
2015 -
"Jadot makes full use of the generous and fruit fleshy vintage for a '15 that just seems to have effortlessly arrived right here. A multi-use Chablis for any and all occasions, expressive moments and times of reflection. This is the classic part barrel, part stainless steel worked chardonnay from a year when "work" is a very loose term because the wines just made themselves. In reality to a degree but Jadot's is quite the sunny picnic, rich, lemon omniscient and carefree. Drink 2018-2023. Tasted April 2018."
2015 -
"This is juicy, showing lemon, apple and floral aromas and flavors. Straightforward and balanced, with a tangy, mouthwatering impression."
2015 -
"Pale yellow. Lemon, menthol and crushed rock currently dominate delicate white peach on the nose, along with a faint suggestion of high-pitched brown spices. Brisk and dry, showing decent intensity and texture to its lemon peel and mineral flavors. In a distinctly polite, even slightly austere, style for the year, showing good definition and no obvious heat."
2015 -
"Perfectly correct, lean, stony, tight and mineral Chablis, only vaguely lactic, but easily identifiable. I like the taught acids and the overall tension, Hallmarks of the great 2014 vintage. This is for fans of the more austere style, drinking now but better next year. Tasted September 2016. Value Rating: **"
2015 -
"Leesy scents of wheat add smokiness to this wine's gentle, honeyed flavors. It's round and a little creamy, a clean young Chablis to serve with roast fish."
