The story begins back in 1923. Under the leadership of Abbé Balitrand, a number of winegrowers joined forces to better withstand the economic difficulties of the period. Together, in the middle of the Chablis vineyards, they created a cooperative winery to market their wines.

Golden colour with silver highlights, brilliant.
Initial mineral and flinty aromas open into lemon with a hint of jasmine.
The palate is fresh, well balanced with a slight sweetness which gives it a roundness. A nice tension at the finish brings minerality and length.
Aperitif, white fish with a lemon sauce, fresh goat cheese.
Chardonnay is sourced from multiple vineyards in the Chablis appellation with kimmeridgian and clay-limestone soils. Fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks before the wine spends approximately 12 months on fine lees in tanks and barrels.

"Classic La Chablisienne: ultra-clean and precise, there is a lot of density here with a fine combination of succulent, concentrated (but not overripe) fruit combined with fresh acidity and a pronounced mineral quality. Will age well. Tank sample." - Andy Howard MW

"From the famous Kimmeridgian clay limestone soils, planted at a density of 5,500 to 6,500 vines / ha with now 20 year old vines, this entry version of Chablis illustrates the best of the gap between many BC chardonnay and Chablis. La Pierrelée is a delicate, light, almost ethereal white wine that dances on the palate. It doesn't have the complexity of a Grand Cru label, but it has the soul of Chablis, and you can see why well made Chablis has such a huge fan base..." - Anthony Gismondi

"Fresh, classic, zesty. A staple in our market, La Chablisienne's La Pierrelee suggests oyster shells and lemon drops, yellow plum and yellow apples, honeysuckle and toasted baguette and roasted hazelnut. It's a fresh white with flavours to echo the nose. It has a slick texture, mineral undertone and persistent zesty finish." - Daenna Van Muligen

"... the newest vintage of La Pierrelée from this venerable Chablis co-operative provides a great Chardonnay baseline: wonderful texture with citrus and floral tones, good balance complemented by acidity, and an elegant finish.
Bottom line: B, Pairs great with seafood."
2022 -
"This is a solid, mineral-forward Chablis. Freshly-cut green apple and dried field grass aromas open on the nose complemented by a dusting of white blossom. The chalky palate boasts springy acidity. Pair with Croque Monsieur and a green salad."

BRONZE "Grapefruit, nectarines and peachy. Soft citrus and apple notes on a complex finish."
2021 -
"Quintessential Chablis exuding racy grapefruit and lemon citrus and an ambient sea spray freshness. Refined and delicate with a pervading seam of tense acidity. Outstanding!"
2021 -
"As one would expect from this leading Co-op, this is a fine example of Chablis with plenty of mineral notes complimenting the crisp acidity and tree-fruit characters on the nicely concentrated palate. Ready now but will be drinking well for at least two to three years." - Andy Howard MW
2021 -
"The palate is well-balanced with modest depth, lightly spiced with good mid-palate weight... it has a pleasingly smooth texture and a lingering dash of spice."
2020 -
"The 2020 Chablis La Pierrelée has a pleasant nose, Golden Delicious, granite and a light chamomile scent that surfaces with time in the bottle. The palate is well balanced with a marine-tinged entry, fine weight and acidity, fresh with a saline finish. This is a fine Village Cru from La Chablisienne."
2020 -
"The 2020 Chablis La Pierrelée has a reserved gunflint bouquet that is quite penetrating for a Village Cru. The palate is well balanced with plenty of energy and quite saline in the mouth. An attractive sour lemon note appears toward the finish. Well-made and delicious."
2013 -
"Lemon cake and a hint of baking spices mark this rich, supple white. The citrus theme continues as this unwinds to a long, crisp finish..." - Bruce Sanderson
